We are excited to invite Dameyonna Willis to the Nonprofit Sistas podcast. In this episode, we will focus on whether can you connect with your local schools to serve as a youth center.
Taking the Leap to Serve as a Youth Center
Before starting a nonprofit organization, Dameyonna began providing programs and workshops for young girls in various community centers in Cleveland. Her actions gave her the confidence to travel to local schools and youth organizations to host workshops. Dameyonna’s collaborations with the community schools and organizations helped her to engage with her target audience.
By building long-lasting relationships with the girls, she was able to develop her curriculum to teach the participants the importance of their crown. This teaching point is one of the key pillars behind the mission of Queen IAM, a girl empowerment organization.
Investing in the Next Generation of Girls
The mission of Queen IAM is to empower, enrich, and educate young girls. Dameyonna started the organization to help encourage girls to embrace self-love, self-respect, and self-understanding.
The Queen IAM provides mentorship programs, workshops, and events to inspire individual growth. For every girl who participates, Dameyonna desires for them to leave encouraged with a renewed sense of self-worth. She wants the alumni of the Queen IAM to grow into strong, confident, and beautiful women.
From being a solo leader to a multi-individual team, Dameyonna has worked extremely hard to build and grow the organization to help expose young girls to social and emotional growth opportunities.
