We are excited to invite Raioni Madison-Jones to the Nonprofit Sistas podcast. In this episode, we will discuss what skills you need for female leadership.
All about 3D Girls, Inc.
Raioni Madison-Jones is a community impact leader who loves serving and giving back to others. Her journey started when she became a teacher through the Teach For America program. As a former educator, Raioni spent most of her time teaching youth who attended schools in low-income communities.
Being a teacher, Raioni discovered how much youth had to endure and the lack of resources that were presented to help them. Her consistent history of public service was the inspiration need her to completely give of herself to others. This passion ignited to become what is known today as 3D Girls, Inc.
Raioni created the organization to help educate and empower young women and girls. As the Executive Director of 3D Girls, Inc., Raioni brings to light the issues that limit girls in low-income communities to gain access to educational tools, financial stability, and health resources.
3D Girls, Inc. provides the following types of programs:
- STEAM workshops to help girls explore and gain confidence in the field.
- Distributions of basic needs and resources for mothers in need of support.
- Professional mentorships by fellow black and brown women in the community.
- Financial assistance and resources for families.
Currently, Raioni and her team have worked to increase their yearly budget, served over 600 girls, as well as completed over 346 hours of mentorship and tutoring.
What does it take to be a great leader?
With the amount of work hours required to manage 3D Girls, Inc., Raioni learned the hard way what it took to be a great leader. She leads a team of six women of color, who are committed to bringing the organization’s mission to life.
Raioni realized she needed to further her professional skills in the nonprofit sector. She enrolled and took courses and workshops to enhance her skills. Raioni needed to take a workshop to learn the ins and outs of creating a strategic plan. Being vulnerable to her shortcomings, Raioni received help to complete her goals and receive a grant.
Having over 10 years of experience, she has a lot of information to share about building and managing an organization’s operations to ensure its programs fulfill its mission.
